Read Galatians
5:1-6.
We have
been given great freedom in Jesus. So, if Christ has set us free from the
bondage of our sin, the temptations of the devil, and the lust of the flesh,
why live enslaved to these things any longer? Because you are free, therefore,
live the remainder of your days like you are free. Don’t fall away from
grace, fall into it. For by falling into grace, you fall into the very arms of
Jesus.
This reading was a great reminder for me to check-in with myself on why I do certain things. Am I following the way of the world (the law) or am I living into God's grace? We can't live under both and living under the law means being separated from God, so let me fall into the arms of Jesus in all that I do!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of 1 Corinthians 10:23 - “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
ReplyDeleteI think for me this is why giving up something for Lent is meaningful. It's not that the thing I am giving up is "bad" necessarily - just that nothing else in my life should be as important to me as my relationship with God, and nothing should be "enslaving" me but I should be living in a way that shows that Christ has set me free from everything that binds me.
And so, like Christen says, it's a good time to "check in" with myself and make sure that my priorities are in order.
