The question
asked by the serpent (“Did God really say…?) really speaks to me about the
importance of knowing God’s Word. What did God say? Or for us today “What has
God said through the pages of Scripture that should define our lives and
boundaries today?” We humans rely way too much on what someone else tells us
that God says rather than knowing for ourselves, don’t we? I’m reminded again today that if I ever
wonder what God said, the answer lies within my ability to discover. I just need to open my Bible.
I worry about people who go to churches that make them "feel good" but are not scripturally based. Sometimes God's Word doesn't make us "feel good" but that is for a reason. It is very popular today to negotiate and say that God did not really mean what He said in Scripture, but that's a dangerous road to go down. And even all the way back in the Garden, God knew this would be something we would always struggle with...
