Read John 9:13-25.
I love the story of the man born blind who was
touched and transformed by Jesus. His life was touched. His life was
transformed. And his life was forever changed by Jesus. This man’s blindness
was not only physical; more importantly, it was spiritual. Often, I’ve seen God
meet my physical needs as a way to open the door to meet the deeper
spiritual need in my life.
How has God touched your life? How has Jesus opened
your eyes to see? Don’t let anyone talk you out of your story, because
it’s your story. Let people argue theology all they want, but your story
is your testimony. So, share it with others and let it shine.
I see three different reactions to a miracle Jesus has performed and it provides me with three examples of how I might respond to the way the Lord has worked in my life.
ReplyDelete1. Am I reacting like the Pharisees - not recognizing the miracle done before them because it's not possible, it goes against what we know?
2. Am I reacting like the parents - afraid to admit what has happened even when I know what is true?
3. Am I reacting like the blind man - proclaiming thankfulness for what has happened and accepting that I don't have full understanding of how it came to be, but returning praise to God.
I know how I would hope to react, and I pray that my eyes are not blind to see how the Lord works in my life everyday.
I think often times the answer is #2 - and further, we are afraid to admit what has happened because we are afraid of what people will say or what they will think of us for believing.
ReplyDeleteI'm reminded of the song "Jesus Freak" - are we brave enough to tell our story even though the world may label us weird and different, or laugh at us for being "fanatics"?
Lord, gift me with the words to say so that I can break through the world's notions of "Christians." Help me share Your love for me in a way that inspires and touches the hearts of even those who don't yet know You.
