Read Acts
4:8-13.
One of
the greatest observations and compliments someone could say to me is what the
rulers and elders said about Peter and John: “When they saw the courage of
Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were
astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus” (vs. 13).
Everything we need to bear witness about Jesus is provided as we spend time
with Jesus.
Lord Jesus, fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can share your love with confidence and that others will respond just as Anna and Caiaphas did, with astonishment and the knowledge that I have spent time with Jesus. That they would see that I am an ordinary person who is loved by an extraordinary God. Amen.
ReplyDeleteIt's harder for us to understand or imagine what this would have been like in these days of near-universal literacy, education, and access to Scripture. But if Peter and John could speak out for their God, how much more can we.
ReplyDeleteI also sense a little bit of indignation on Peter's part: "you're calling us out because we were KIND to someone and HEALED them? what is wrong with you people??"
