Read Psalm 84.
Let me share a portion of this reading from The
Message: “And how blessed all those in whom you live,
whose lives become roads you travel; They wind through lonesome
valleys, come upon brooks, discover cool springs and pools brimming with
rain! God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and
at the last turn—Zion!” I love the image of my life as a road on
which God travels. I find assurance in knowing that He guides and directs me
and is leading toward heaven. That means whatever I experience – even this
maddening coronavirus – is meant to be a part of my journey. So teach me today,
Lord, keep my heart and mind focused on what You are doing in me. Let my day be
defined by what I hear from You, I pray.
I love verses 10-11:
ReplyDeleteBetter is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
NO GOOD THING DOES HE WITHHOLD. Hold on to that in these times. By faith we have His favor and honor, and His blessings, even in days like these.
I love those verses too. Reading them today made me sad that the house of the Lord will be closed tonight and Sunday. But it makes me all the more eager to be there when the doors reopen! Meanwhile I just remember that my heart is also his home.
DeleteI love that this Psalm is such a reminder that this world is not our final destination. Verse 10 is a reminder to me that all of the goodness that we think we possess here does not even equate to the least of heaven. Verse 10 says it best, A single day in your courts
ReplyDeleteis better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked" (NLT). It makes bearing the uncertainty of these days worth the wait. Can you even imagine the splendor that awaits us?!
